Midnight Sun Pastels — Lofoten 2025
This wide panorama was photographed close to midnight during our Summer Midnight Sun Photo Expedition in Lofoten. Under the Arctic Circle, the very best light doesn’t arrive at midday — it unfolds late at “night,” when the sun hovers above the horizon and the sky melts into delicate pastel tones. The soft golden glow, gentle shadows, and surreal calm create conditions no ordinary sunset can match.
I captured this scene during one of those luminous nights, where the coastline, fjords, and mountain silhouettes were all bathed in endless twilight. In 2026, we return with our next Midnight Sun Photo Expedition, designed for photographers who want to master shooting and editing in these unique conditions — from subtle seascapes to panoramic vistas like this one.
Panorama compiled from total of 245 frames (5-level exposure bracketing of 40 frames in three rows, 45 antireflective frames).
