Midnight Sun Lofoten 2026
Photo Expedition & Workshop
18th June - 26th June 2026
This is not a sightseeing tour. It’s a real photography expedition.
We don’t just take you to locations — we teach you how to think, decide and work as a landscape photographer in demanding conditions, step by step, directly in the field.
You learn why a composition works or fails, when to shoot and when not to, how to control exposure, panoramas and contrast — and how to adapt when conditions change. This is hands-on mentoring, not passive shooting.
Field-based photography mentoring focused on decisions, technique and real results
18th – 26th June 2026
📍 Lofoten Islands, Norway | 👤 Max 8 Participants | 📸 Up to 4 Instructors incl. Jan Šmíd, Master QEP

Towering mountains, glowing seascapes and vibrant fjords create continuous photographic opportunities. The focus is on working with endless golden light, mastering single frames, panoramas and long exposures, and understanding how to control dynamic light conditions directly in the field.

☀️ Why Lofoten in Summer
In summer, Lofoten blooms with wildflowers, its vivid scenery sometimes resembling Madeira. Add turquoise waters, misty inversions, and hours of golden light, and you get a photographer’s dream.
We’re talking about sunsets that turn into sunrises without ever going dark. Imagine having 6 hours of perfect light to create one single composition. That’s not an exaggeration — it’s what the Arctic Circle offers in June.
If you’ve never visited northern Scandinavia in summer, prepare for a unique experience: long, calm sessions with ideal light, endless inspiration, and a creative rhythm unlike any other time of year. You’ll shoot long after midnight, guided by soft shadows and glowing skies.
🌸 Blooming landscapes and lush coastal colors
🌊 Turquoise sea and misty inversions in the valleys
⛰ Towering peaks and quiet beaches
🏘 Charming fishing villages under arctic skies
We’ll photograph from high peaks, sea-level fjords, and unique hidden spots that most photographers miss.

This expedition is suitable for all levels of fitness. Most photo locations require only light walks. If you're eager for hikes to high-altitude spots, you’ll have that option. And if you prefer an easy photo workshop with accessible viewpoints, we’ve got you covered too.

How We Work: Flexible, Real-World Shooting (what about the itinerary)?
There is no fixed day-by-day itinerary. Each shooting day is planned around light direction, cloud cover, weather and wind, not a rigid schedule. With the midnight sun, photography happens around the clock. We move between locations based on the angle and quality of light, shooting late at night, early morning or whenever conditions are strongest — without the limits of sunrise or sunset.
Thanks to deep local knowledge of the Lofoten Islands, we always choose the right location for the moment, focusing on clean compositions, long light transitions and high-quality landscape images. Between key photo sessions, we also explore iconic and lesser-known locations mentioned in the expedition introduction.
🎯 Our mission is simple: To help every participant create the best images possible — every single day.
This photo expedition is designed as an intensive field-based learning experience, where photography is taught directly in real landscapes and changing conditions. If you want to understand how expeditions, private courses and mentoring connect into one complete education system — and how individual formats complement each other — you can read a detailed explanation here.
