Window to the Mediterranean
This 360-degree panorama was photographed at the famous sea caves near Ayia Napa, Cyprus, during the first group Cyprus Photo Expedition in February. The location itself is well known among photographers visiting the island, but capturing it as a full 360° panorama creates a very different experience. Instead of seeing only a fragment of the scene, the panoramic perspective reveals the entire stone chamber, the open Mediterranean horizon, and the glowing sunset light in one continuous view. It allows us to see something our eyes cannot fully perceive in a single glance — a complete spatial impression of the place that is nevertheless exactly what surrounds us when standing inside the cave.
At sunset the warm light reflects beautifully from the limestone walls, turning the rock formations into a natural frame for the sea beyond. The cave almost feels like a window carved into the Mediterranean, where the golden light, calm water, and rugged textures of the coastline come together in a powerful photographic composition.
This image was created during our first group Cyprus landscape photography expedition in February, which followed three earlier private scouting expeditions dedicated to discovering new photo locations, refining compositions, and carefully checking accommodations and logistics across both Northern and Southern Cyprus. After this extensive preparation, the first group expedition proved to be very successful and produced a large collection of strong images from across the island.
Because of that success, we are already planning the next Cyprus Photo Expeditions for November 2026 and March 2027, continuing to explore the dramatic coastlines, the Kyrenia Mountains in Northern Cyprus, and the rugged landscapes of the Troodos Mountains during the best light of the year.
Panorama compiled from total of 180 frames (5-level exposure bracketing of 28 frames in three rows, 40 antireflective frames).
