⭐ Why November?
Workshop format: The Complete Photography Experience
📸 Dominate the Mediterranean Coast: Strategic Coastal Photography
Join Jan Šmíd (Master QEP) personally for a premium Cyprus photo expedition across the island’s north and south. While most Mediterranean destinations turn brown and lifeless by late autumn, Cyprus follows a different rhythm. During this intensive November landscape photography workshop, we exploit the island’s most vibrant and dramatic face at its absolute peak.
The Eternal Green: Unlike the scorched landscapes of Southern Europe, the Kyrenia Mountains explode in fresh green during November. Fueled by autumn moisture, the ridges come alive with wild cyclamens—a lush scenery impossible to find elsewhere this late in the year.
The Autumn Contrast: We ascend to the Troodos Mountains, where golden vineyards and ancient cedars create a rich tapestry of colors. It’s a photographer’s paradise of deep contrasts and soft, low-angle light. This is why Cyprus remains one of the most underrated destinations for a professional photo tour in Europe.
While much of Europe is already cold and grey, we chose this specific window for three strategic reasons to maximize your Cyprus photo expedition results:
✅ The Perfect Light Cycle: The sun stays lower on the horizon, giving us significantly longer "golden hours" and manageable shadows—unlike the harsh, vertical summer sun.
✅ Atmospheric Drama: November brings the first seasonal fronts. This is the only time you can capture the surreal contrast of calm, warm turquoise water against textured, high-impact clouds.
✅ Zero Crowds, Total Access: We have the most iconic, scout-built locations entirely to ourselves. No tourists in your frames, no rushing—just pure focus on your technical training.
Learn more about why I consider this island one of the most underrated landscape photography destinations in Europe here.
This is not a "pay and forget" photo tour. It’s a carefully paced photo expedition where the learning is seamless, relaxed, and fully supported by Jan’s long-term educational system.
The 1:2 Personal Advantage: Limited to just 6 participants with 3 instructors, including Jan Šmíd personally. This is the highest level of individual attention you can find. Jan is there with you at every sunrise and sunset, helping you see the light and master the shot in real-time during this landscape photography workshop.
Prep & Support via YouTube: To make the most of our time in the field, you have access to Jan’s YouTube Library. It’s there if you want to brush up on gear or basics beforehand, so when we are at the sea caves, we can focus on the art and the atmosphere, not just the buttons.
Never Left Alone After the Trip: Once you return home, the journey continues. You can revisit Jan’s field techniques and editing workflows on his channel anytime after the expedition.
The Final Touch: To ensure your best frames from Cyprus reach their full potential, we offer a follow-up personal online session to fine-tune your edits and discuss your progress. It’s the perfect way to close the circle from the Mediterranean light to a finished fine-art file on this premium photo tour.

🗺️ The Route: What Will We Capture?
This Cyprus photo expedition is the result of three private scouting missions and over 3 months spent on-location. We don’t follow a rigid, touristy schedule on this landscape photography workshop—we follow the light. Our strategy is simple: be at the right ridge or the right sea cave exactly when the conditions are peak.
The Troodos Mountains: High-altitude ridges, ancient pine forests, and golden vineyards. We focus on the raw, wintry character of the peaks and the soft mountain light.
The Kyrenia (Pentadaktylos) Range: Dramatic limestone "fingers" and Crusader castles like St. Hilarion. This is where we capture the "Eternal Green" contrast against the Mediterranean.
The Eastern Coast: Sea caves, natural arches, and turquoise coves of Ayia Napa and Protaras. Optimized for long-exposure seascapes and powerful coastal textures on this premium photo tour.
No crowds. No rushed sightseeing. Just clean landscapes, strategic timing, and total focus on your portfolio.
🟢 Physically Accessible Photo Expedition
This Cyprus photo expedition is designed to be physically accessible for everyone. We focus on photography, not hiking marathons, making it the perfect landscape photography workshop for all levels of fitness.
Easy Access: Most iconic locations are just a short walk from our vehicles.
Your Choice: For those who want more, we know optional ridgelines and viewpoints that offer even more dramatic angles on this photo tour.
No One Left Behind: With 3 instructors and multiple vehicles, we can split the group based on energy levels or specific photographic interests. You are never rushed, and you are never alone.
🎥 Pre-trip primer on long-exposure seascapes. Watch before Cyprus to arrive prepped and start getting silky water fast. But don’t stress: we’ll teach and practice everything during the expedition.
🎥 Video on getting exposure right for landscapes—how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO trade off and when to prioritize each. It gives a method to balance motion vs depth of field vs noise, with simple starting points you can test. Watch before Cyprus to build confidence; we’ll reinforce everything hands-on during the expedition.

✅ Why Join This Cyprus Expedition?
🏆 The Master QEP Advantage: Led personally by Jan Šmíd (ZEISS Ambassador) and a team of 2 instructors. You don't just follow a guide; you learn from a Master QEP in a personalized 1:2 instructor-to-student ratio during this landscape photography workshop.
🗺️ The Only True North-South Expedition: We are currently the only team offering a comprehensive A-to-Z landscape route covering the entire island. Following our highly successful February 2026 photo expedition, we return to the heart of both worlds—Troodos, the Kyrenia ridges, and the coast—using a route developed over 3 months of private scouting.
💡 From Storytelling to Pano Mastery: We teach you the "how," not just the "where." Master everything from powerful single-frame storytelling to Jan’s signature 140-frame panoramic workflows and focus stacking on this premium photo tour.
🌅 The November Window: Warm Mediterranean waters meet dramatic, textured skies. This is the only time you get summer temperatures with high-end, atmospheric landscape light on this photo workshop.
📍 Beyond the Maps (Scouted Locations): While tourists stick to the basic viewpoints, we take you to the undocumented ridges of Kyrenia, hidden mountain trails in Troodos, and secret coastal spots on both the North and South. These are locations I personally discovered during my months of scouting—spots that offer the most exclusive angles of the island and simply don't exist on any map or in any tourist guide for this elite photo expedition.
👥 Unmatched Flexibility: Strictly limited to 6 photographers and 3 instructors with multiple vehicles. This allows us to split the group or adapt the route instantly based on your specific photographic goals during the photo tour.
🤝 Elite Yet Relaxed: A professional, supportive environment where the focus is on your portfolio, great local wine, and the craft of photography.
🛠️ Technical Mastery: Gear & Professional Support
You’ll get the absolute most out of this Cyprus photo expedition with a DSLR or mirrorless system, a sturdy tripod, and a lens range from wide-angle to telephoto.
Elite Gear Consultation & Support:
Pre-Expedition Consulting: Included in your booking is a full gear audit. Whether you are upgrading your sensor, choosing the right lens lineup, or selecting weather-sealed clothing, we provide expert guidance before the mission begins.

How We Work: Why Flexibility Beats a Fixed Itinerary
We don’t follow a rigid, touristy schedule on this landscape photography workshop. Following the success of our February 2026 photo expedition, we know that in Cyprus, the light is the boss. Our plan is conditions-based—we adapt every single day to the clouds, wind, and tides to ensure you are always at the right ridge or sea cave at the peak moment.
Dynamic Decision Making: Thanks to over 3 months of private scouting, we know exactly where to pivot when the weather changes. Whether it’s the snow-dusted peaks of Troodos or the sun-drenched limestone of Kyrenia, we move with the light on this premium photo tour.
From Storytelling to Technical Mastery: Our focus is on high-end results. We spend the time needed to master everything from powerful single-frame storytelling to my signature 140-frame panoramic workflows during this photo workshop.
Guided Exploration: Between the main sunrise and sunset sessions, we explore both the island’s icons and the "off-map" locations I’ve discovered, combining technical landscape work with documentary-style shooting on this elite photo expedition.
🎯 Our mission is simple: To ensure you leave Cyprus with a world-class portfolio, having mastered the skills to read any landscape like a professional.
The Bigger Picture: This photo tour is a key part of a complete photography education. To understand how our field photo expeditions, private workshops, and online sessions connect into one seamless learning journey, explore the full Jan Šmíd Education System here.
For photographers planning more premium landscape workshops in 2027, explore our Namibia Photo Expedition 2027 and Alaska Fall Photo Workshop 2027 — two high-end adventures offering completely different environments: the dramatic desert landscapes and night skies of Namibia in April, and the autumn tundra colors, glaciers and potential Aurora Borealis in Alaska in September (fotoexpedice Namibie 2027, fotoexpedice Aljaška 2027, fotoworkshop Aljaška).

November is one of the most rewarding months for landscape photography in Cyprus.
The Troodos Mountains offer clear air and soft seasonal light across the island’s interior, while the Kyrenia Mountainsreveal dramatic limestone ridges rising above the Mediterranean.
Along the coast around Protaras and Ayia Napa, the sea remains warm and the return of seasonal clouds creates far more atmospheric skies than during the cloudless summer months.
This combination allows us to photograph mountains, rugged ridgelines and dramatic Mediterranean seascapes during a single expedition.
-
This Cyprus photo expedition focuses on three main landscape environments:
🏔 Troodos Mountains — mountain ridges, forests and high viewpoints
🌿 Kyrenia (Pentadaktylos) Mountains — limestone ridges, castles and spring landscapes
🌊 Protaras & Ayia Napa coast — sea caves, arches and dramatic Mediterranean seascapesAll locations were carefully scouted during multiple trips across the island.
-
No. A mirrorless or DSLR camera with a wide-angle lens and tripod is ideal, but the most important thing is your motivation to learn.
Participants receive a complete gear checklist before the expedition, and instructors can help you optimize your current equipment.
-
Our European expeditions — Cyprus, Madeira, Lofoten and Iceland — focus on dramatic coastal landscapes, mountain ridges, seascapes and changing Mediterranean or North Atlantic light.
The Namibia Photo Expedition 2027 offers a completely different photographic environment: vast desert landscapes, iconic dunes, deadvlei trees, wildlife and some of the clearest night skies in the world.
The Alaska Fall Photo Workshop 2027 focuses on autumn tundra colors, glacier landscapes and the possibility of photographing the Aurora Borealis.
Many photographers combine one of our European landscape workshops with either Namibia or Alaska to build a diverse portfolio across very different environments and seasons.
-
To maintain a premium experience we limit the expedition to a maximum of 6 participants.
This small group size allows for personal coaching, flexible schedules and maximum time shooting in the best light.
