Waterfall of the Gods

Goðafoss is among the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. It holds significance for Icelanders as around the year 1000, law-speaker Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði decided here on the religion the local residents would adhere to. On his journey around the waterfall, he discarded pagan sculptures of Norse gods, thus establishing that the inhabitants of the land would become a Christian nation. Personally, I must admit that I avoid the waterfall. Asphalted parking lots on both sides, hundreds of cars and buses, that's not the Iceland I love. But at night, it's different. While taking photos, I only met a colleague from Singapore on the spot. He was most interested in what and how I was photographing and eventually decided to try a night panorama like me. He just complained that he didn't know who would put it together for him back home. Perhaps it's time to start doing workshops in Singapore :)

The photograph received an Honorable Mention at The Gala Awards – 10th Pollux Awards 2017, an Honorable Mention at the International Photographer of the Year 2017 in London, and a Silver Medal at the European Professional Photographer of the Year 2018.
