Join Jan Šmíd, Master QEP for an Exclusive Scotland Photo Workshop & Tour – Atlantic Light, Ancient Stones and Endless Shores
Nowhere blends raw coastal beauty and minimalist elegance like the Outer Hebrides. From the glowing sands of Luskentyre and Seilebost to the ancient Callanish Standing Stones and the wild cliffs of Lewis, every scene is sculpted by wind, tide and shifting light.
We’ve spent weeks scouting across Lewis and Harris, testing access, light direction and tide patterns — so you can focus entirely on creativity. Every day brings a balance between iconic and hidden: the beaches everyone dreams of and the elevated viewpoints almost nobody photographs.
Why Late August?
Because it’s magic.
By late summer, the heather is in full bloom, the air is warm but clear, and the sun drops low enough to paint the land with endless golden hours. Atlantic weather adds fast-changing drama — clouds, glow, mist, rainbows — all in one evening.
📸 What to Expect
Long sunsets and soft twilight transitions
Turquoise beaches at Luskentyre, Seilebost, Scarista etc.
Callanish Stones in moody dawn light
Cliffs of Butt of Lewis with crashing waves
Remote hilltops overlooking Taransay and Sound of Harris
Heather-covered ridges glowing at sunset

🗺️ What Will We See During the Photo Expedition & Tour?
This Cyprus photo workshop doesn’t run on a rigid timetable—and that’s the point. Each day we pivot to the best snow in Troodos, spring greens in the Kyrenia range, and tide/swell/light for the coast, so you’re always shooting the most striking scenes in the best conditions.
Outside golden-hour sessions, we’ll mix headline vistas with hard-to-find locations—from snow-dusted forests and castle ridges (St. Hilarion) to sunrise sea caves around Protaras and backlit seascapes near Ayia Napa. No crowds. No noise. Just clean frames and moments that feel like they’re yours.
You’ll photograph winter ridgelines, fresh limestone spines with wildflowers, and turquoise water with arches and long-exposure surf—one island, three seasons in a week.
Optional extras: quick ski laps in Troodos (rental available) or a dip in ~19–21 °C turquoise water after a sunrise session. Cyprus is wildly underrated—this trip shows you why. 🏔️🌿🌊🎿📸

How We Work: Flexible, Real-World Shooting (what about the itinerary)?
We often get asked:
“Where will we be shooting on Day 3?”
“What time is breakfast on Day 7?”
“Will we see spot X at sunset?”
Here’s our honest answer:
We don’t offer cookie-cutter travel itineraries — we run real photo expeditions.
Adaptive Itinerary — Cyprus Edition
Rather than a fixed day-by-day plan, we design each shoot around live forecasts, light, wind, tides and swell. That lets us chase the strongest conditions—sunrise/sunset, coastal haze, dramatic clouds, even fresh snow.
With our on-the-ground scouting and deep knowledge of Troodos, Kyrenia (Pentadaktylos) and the Protaras/Ayia Napa coast, we pick the right location for the moment: snow textures and ridgelines in Troodos, spring-green limestone spines in Kyrenia, and sea caves/arches when tide and light align.
Our priority is top-quality landscape images—single frames, panoramas, long exposures. Between the key sessions we also explore Cyprus’s iconic and lesser-known spots from the trip intro, blending guided sightseeing with documentary-style shooting for a truly memorable experience.
🎯 Our mission is simple: To help every participant create the best images possible — every single day.
❓ FAQ: Cyprus North–South Photo Workshop 2026
-
Absolutely! The expedition is open to photographers of all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced pro, you'll receive personalized coaching from Jan Šmíd and his team. With their guidance, you’ll refine your approach to photographing Cyprus—from the snowy Troodos Mountains to turquoise coasts.
-
Late-February Cyprus: on the coast expect ~20 °C in the shade, and in direct sun it feels much warmer. Skies are a mix of sun and clouds (great for photos), the sea is refreshing (18-21°C) and fine for a quick dip. Troodos is true winter (near-freezing with snow); we shoot snowy scenes there and then head back to the mild coast.
-
Don’t worry! We can adapt to any gear you have, whether it’s a smartphone or a high-end camera. After you register, we provide a detailed gear list and recommendations to make sure you're ready for the conditions, and you can always consult with us for any additional advice.
-
It’s the sweet spot: snowy Troodos, spring-green Kyrenia (Pentadaktylos), and turquoise seascapes around Protaras & Ayia Napa. One trip, three looks—winter, spring, and coast.
-
Both. You’ll get pre-trip mini-videos (e.g., long-exposure seascapes) to arrive prepared, and we teach all techniques on location—so you’re never left guessing.
