Snowy Dolomite Peaks under the Summer Milky Way

The summer Milky Way above snowy Dolomite peaks and winter-like landscape by Jan Smid, Master QEP.

To capture a composition of the summer Milky Way against a winter landscape is not common. However, we had the privilege of experiencing this during last year's summer expedition to the Dolomites. Winter refused to relinquish its reign, and heavy snowfall persisted in northern Italy through April. Consequently, by the end of June, lush spring landscapes or blooming summer meadows were nowhere to be found. On the contrary, we encountered "summer snowdrifts" reaching almost up to our waists in some places.
