Sulfur Spirits

Another panorama with the Northern Lights from the autumn photo expedition to Iceland. Specifically from the area of Hverir. It's full of bubbling mud, hot springs, sulfur deposits, and smoking vents. It feels like something out of a sci-fi movie. Visitors are provided access through a system of pathways, bridges, and wooden viewing platforms, which should not be ideally left. The ground here is hot and fragile, and a careless step into boiling mud could have very unpleasant consequences. Well, I must admit that I didn't take photos from the pathway. And finding a solid piece of ground and a decent composition in the sulfur clouds in the dark wasn't exactly easy. But hopefully, it turned out alright, although I'll leave the evaluation to the viewers...

The photograph received an Honorable Mention at The Gala Awards – 10th Pollux Awards 2017.

Panorama compiled from total of 7 frames (2 frames in two rows, 2-level focus bracketing, averaged exposures).
